I hope this finds you well!
A couple of newsletters ago I mentioned that my husband was busy painting the front door. It was the final touch to our very long hallway project.
We had many starts and stops on this project for several reasons. My husband’s job had an overabundance of projects and offered overtime to get it done, my older parents both had a short hospital stint (they are doing okay now), making time to spend with our grandson, family and friends. On top of that were the many things that make up life.
There were times when we came home and I’d sigh over the entry, but most of the time it was okay. This is life, and if something had to get pushed into the background then it should be a project and not one of the more important things.
But now it’s done! And I’d like to show you the before and after.
Before:
This style had been beautiful in its hay day, I’m sure—but it is outdated now. Notice the brown ceiling with the teeny light! All the louvered doors were painted an orangey brown that my youngest daughter affectionally called “baby poop brown”. lol. The entire townhouse was actually those colors except for the bathrooms.
It will always be a long hallway with doors to a half-bath, laundry area, coat closet, under the stairs storage, and the utility area. But I could brighten it up!
After:
New paint, paper, and doors (love the handles from Hobby Lobby!). Hubby installed 3 recessed lights with a dimmer so now it is super bright when we want it to be.
I’m so happy to have it done!
Now onto the next project—an addition to the small patio that came with the townhouse. :)
What does all this have to so with writing? Perseverance. It’s good for house projects. It’s good for writing.
Happy Reading,
Maira :)
I’m enjoying the fresh fruits and vegetables coming out of my friend’s and family’s gardens. Since we are focusing on the house, we don’t have a garden of our own yet.
My grandson loves to garden. He and his father have planted tomatoes, peppers, watermelon, cucumber and many other plants. I love to see his excitement over every little bit of progress his plants make. He gives me a tour every time we visit. :)
Substack now has surveys! So, let’s have our first one. How about you? Do you garden?
