There’s a chill in our air, and I have to say, I’m ready for it. Don’t get me wrong. It’s still going to be 83 degrees today. But this morning, as I sit by the open window writing this, I’m enjoying 62.

This summer has been punishing in so many places throughout the U.S. and the world. And if the news is right, severe weather of all kinds will soon be the norm.

What can we do?

We can prepare, as best we can. It’s a different kind of preparing than stocking the pantry, but can require the same kind of mentality.

The old what if?

What if we had a large fire, tornado, hurricane? What if we had a heat wave or extreme cold? And what are the things that could happen because of that?

A little preparation can go a long way. Maybe we will need it, maybe we won’t. But it can put our minds at ease.

In gardening news . . .

My grandson has had quite the harvest from his garden this year. He’s already had three watermelons from his garden, and too many tomatoes and cucumbers to count. His peppers have done quite well too. He’s been very excited about it.
