I’ve been sitting here trying to decide what this newsletter should be about. My life is just not all that exciting. lol. And my book is moving forward, sadly in baby steps.
Other than getting my taxes together, there is nothing much new here.
But it is nice outside. Sunny and extremely warm for an Ohio February. I’ll take it.
I threw a little birdseed out for the birds, and let’s face it, the squirrels. And look over every so often to see them eagerly picking at the ground.
We do also have some seed in feeders. But the squirrel will sit on them and keep the birds from eating, going old school and feeding birds like chickens seems to work well.
Squirrels are greedy. Or maybe they have big families to feed. Whatever the reason, they seem to feel entitled to the birdseed that I provide. When I scare them away from the feeder, they actually bristle with anger.
Reminds me of some people I know. lol. I’m sure we all know someone like that.
I’d rather be like a little light-gray dove that visits our feeder. She pecks around the ground under the feeder, minding her own business for the most part. But she also seems to exchange friendly glances with her fellow winged friends.
The squirrels she gives a wide berth or simply ignores. Though she keeps them in her field of vision. Most days, they coincide fairly well.
However one day, the dove pecked at something a squirrel wanted. That squirrel rose up on its hunches and slapped the dove right across its face.
I was horrified! I jumped out of my seat to backhand that squirrel myself, if I had to. But I needn’t have worried.
In the two seconds it took me to get to a standing position, that little dove had pecked that bully squirrel right in the face!
I’d also took her for a weak bird, but she wasn’t weak at all. She just knew which battles to let go and when ones to finish.
I hope to have the same wisdom.

What I’m Reading . . . (or may read soon!)
Well, I’m not reading this book yet. However, I came across it, bought it, and thought you might be interested. I haven’t read this author but he has a ton of books. This one has both an end-of-the-world pandemic and aliens. And I love both!
It is FREE to buy as of today. It contains the first three books in the series.
The Breakers Series: Books 1-3 Kindle Edition
In the Breakers series, humanity faces not one apocalypse, but two: first a lethal pandemic, then a war against those who made the virus. This collection includes the first three books and is over 1000 pages (350,000 words) of post-apocalyptic survival.
