and Your Book Deals

I’m sitting here writing this as my husband paints our front door. We’ve been remodeling our new place and are currently finishing our entrance way. The front door and trim is one of the last thing that needs done before the area is done. Yay!

Paint has been our friend through this remodel as we had hoped it would be. When we were looking for a place, we looked for something that did need a little cosmetic work, but not so much that we would need to dig into the walls. Our remodeling talents only go so far. lol.

Certain aspects of writing can be like painting. A first draft can be pretty ugly—something like that old nineties paint that still covered the doors of this place. Then you give the doors new, brighter coats of paint.

Editing gives your rough draft the sprucing up it needs. During editing, I sometimes expand parts of the story or look up things I need more information about. And of course, that all important grammar and editing. I have to say, I rely heavily on my editor, Lia, for that last part.

By the time I’m done editing, the story can go from a holey, failing mess to something I’m happy to show others.

Similar to my entryway. lol. It doubles as a hallway to my living room. Originally, it had one small light-very dim-with dark brown flowered wallpaper. We have not only lightened it up with white and blue, but my hubby added recessed lighting. (He’s an electrician.)

I’m now very happy to show off this newly decorated area. Once that door is up, I’ll show you the before and after.
