Maira Dawn Book Update
and Book Deals
Well, it’s almost the end of the year and a good time to assess where I am with writing. I’m keeping it short and sweet because you have other things to do besides reading this newsletter. :)
I’ve been working hard on What Used to be Texas. Right now, I’m uploading each chapter as I complete it onto Kindle Vella for those who would like to read it as soon as possible. The first three chapters are free and you can check those out by clicking on the title.
I’m almost done with book 1, trying to find a satisfying ending while still laying groundwork for book 2. So it’s my hope that book 1 will be in ebook and paperback before Spring or even sooner.
If you are interested in being an advanced reader, I could use about 20 more people. You will get a free ebook. :) I ask that you leave a review on Amazon, GoodReads or Bookbub (if you have them), and let your friends on one social media like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok(whatever you have) know about the book.
Someone emailed me a couple of weeks ago interested in this. I’m sorry to say I misplaced your email. Please email me again. :)
So here is the blurb and an excerpt from the book. Enjoy!
Five years after The Fall, sixteen-year-old Molly is alone.
Out of supplies, she has no choice but to go to the one place her grandfather told her never to enter. He was sure bad things happened there, worse things than everything else going on around them--something evil.
On her travels, Molly encounters others--a grieving mother out for revenge, a band of orphans, and an ex-cop carrying secrets, including answers about the monsters that stalk them.
Excerpt from Chapter 7 Things that Snarl:
She snuggled a little deeper into her dusty blanket—and sneezed.
Almost immediately, a low growl came from outside the small basement window.
Molly stilled, her entire body a block of ice. A growl?
A shadow crept over the right side of the window. Molly’s hand shot out and clicked off the lantern.
She dove under the blanket, almost completely burying herself. She left only enough of her face for one eye to peer across the basement and through the window.
Molly stared at the shadow and the body that followed before both melded into one large, dark creature. It was hard to see through the spider webs.
Was that a snout? A muzzle with bared teeth? Was the thing taller than the window?
But there was no mistaking the enormous head that lowered until one gray-green eye stared her way.
