Let's Start a Free Story!

I have been working on what will be a free short story about Albert, the scientist from the What Used to be series - one of our bad guys. I don’t expect this to be a long story, but wanted to share it.
I have gone through it a couple times for edits, but it has not gone to the professional editor yet. There could be changes, but only if I really have to. lol.
I will add it to the newsletter below. I will also organize it under its own title so it will be easy to find later.
This is the first few hundred words. I will continue the story in the next newsletter.
What Used To Be series: Albert Anderson PhD (Part 1)

Albert stared at the three huge monitors on the wall in front of him. All his dreams were coming true. It is what he had hoped for, prayed for, since the government had vetoed his chance to get a ride to one of those huge space stations in the sky.
Unstable. They had called him unstable.
As if his desire to get his hands on all those experiments up there had anything to do with himself.
No. He wanted to help humankind—make them better. Stronger.
It was long past time for humans to have an evolutionary jump. Thier DNA needed a little push—okay, maybe a big one. And he was just the scientist to do it.
Well, he and a few of his cohorts.
The first piece of space debris passed through the atmosphere and burst into flames.
Albert hoped for only one thing.
That this piece—that every piece—blazed its way to the ground as intact as possible.
They hadn’t wanted him in those space stations. That was okay. Because now the stations were coming to him. And more importantly, everything in them.
Albert watched the intense orange and red flames, his lip under his top teeth.
Around him, his co-workers gasped and murmured their concern. People feared this first fireball hurling toward earth. What would they think of the thousandth? The ten thousandth?
No doubt, some of the objects would hit the ground with such force it would obliterate itself and everything around it. But others would make it intact.
To withstand the harsh conditions in outer space, anything sent into it had to be built tough. And everything had a secure place, held there with a buckle, snap, zipper, or clamp.
Yes, there was no question in his mind. Some of the larger space station pieces—and the experiments within them—would survive.
And he couldn’t wait to get his hands on every single evil one of them.
It was all he could do to contain his glee.

I hope you enjoyed the story. I have to say it can be fun to write from a bad guy’s perspective. lol.

In our last survey, 86% of those that answered liked any type of Post-apoc/dystopian books, and 14% liked G-PG 13.
I always look for any promo with Post-apocalyptic/dystopian books first, and have an eye out for a Post-apoc/dystopian promo with young adult or PG 13 and less books. Sadly, it can be hard to find promos with only Post-apoc/dystopian books. That is why I often need to add mixed promos such as Fantasy and Sci-fi. Those aren’t my favorite as I have to really search for something I’d like to read.
But I continue to search for those good ones!
