Blurb:
Every day is a battle to survive.
It’s been five years since The Fall. During that time, sixteen-year-old Molly has watched those she cared for die, and her supplies dwindle. Now, she has no choice but to venture to the occupied military base her grandfather forbid her to enter.
He warned dreadful things happened there.
He was absolutely right.
Human experiments. Mutated monsters. Covered up murders. It’s worse than Molly could have possibly imagined. Yet among those she meets—a grieving mother, a band of orphans, and an ex-cop—she finds one thing she never anticipated . . . hope.
Partnering with her new allies, can Molly and her team work together to stay alive? Or will they pay for the dark secrets they carry with their lives?
Like your post-apocalyptic dystopian books with a twist? Check out this series!
Readers of Mike Kraus, Jack Hunt, Kayla Stone, T.L. Payne, and Micheal Grant will love this novel.
This book is suitable for Adults and Young Adults.
Keep in mind, if you have been reading this story on Kindle Vella, that these chapters were previously published as What used to be Texas Episodes 1-45 on Kindle Vella. (New chapters still being added every week!)

“This is a brilliant read.
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable.
Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuously.
Can't wait to read what the author brings out next.
Recommend reading.” - B
“This book started as an YA survival, explaining how Molly ended being alone in her safe house, but also why she needs to go out and try to get supply's (she is diabetic, and if there’s thing I learned in other books, this makes life even harder for her) and we can fell how lonely she is, for Molly, trusting other people, doesn’t come easy, her grandfather, had already told her that she shouldn’t trust other people, but what can she do when good people come to her.
”Oh yeah, and that is one thing that I really like about molly, she doesn’t try to act older, she is herself and you do feel that. Later in the book another strong woman will come to scene, and I did like her, Anjulie, she will do whatever needs to be done she is brave, motherly, and just what Molly needs. And this is one thing that I love in this author books, people do what they believe is right, there are really good people, even where there shouldn’t be, and that takes me back to sanctuary aggression series, just like there, you have a significant bad man (no spoilers here), and things will develop from there, the book ends with a nice feeling ending and gives us a definite dread of what is to come, oh yes, if you read you know what I mean.
”As always I highly recommend this book, it felt a much faster read than it was, but its just because the story flows so well.” - S
(B and S are both part of the ARC program and received a book early. Thank you so much for the awesome reviews!)
