The decisions of an indie author are not always easy. I’m facing a hard one right now.

Audio books.

I’ve had quite a few people ask if I had or were planning to create audio books for my series, Sanctuary’s Aggression. As of now I haven’t and here is why.

I’m a beginner with writing, and audio books can be quite costly to produce—hundreds to thousands of dollars. And though an author has several choices on how to pay for that, most times it can take years to recoup the loss and/or make any money, especially if a person is not a big ticket author.

Because of that, and a couple of other factors, I’ve decided to create my own ‘audio books’ of the Sanctuary’s Aggression Series and upload them to Youtube. You will be able to listen to them for free. It may sound crazy, but times are hard and I’d like to give back somehow.

I will start with book one and work my way through. This is an experiment of sorts. So if I don’t have much interest, I can discontinue it and try something else.

My new series, What Used to be, is in the Kindle Vella program So, I must have anything using that content behind some kind of paywall. For it, I’m looking at doing something on Substack. Then, I can satisfy those that would like an audio book-like product and also satisfy the requirement of Kindle Vella.
