I may have gone overboard with the Book Deals. lol. There’s a ton! Check them out below.
I’ve added a fourth section of our Albert Anderson story. Please remember that it is only self-edited. So I apologize if it is not up to the usual standard.
Keeping this on the short side as I’m still not feeling great. Thanks for your understanding and your continued support. It means so much to me!
Happy reading,
Maira :)
What Used To Be series: Albert Anderson PhD (Part 4)

Previously: Albert is with the military in a secret underground bunker eagerly watching the beginning of The Fall. He begins to see all his plans for any experiments that make it to earth crumble when the Captain orders the larger debris to be broken up. In desperation, he uses his secret experiment—a transporter—to move some of the experiments from space to his lab. It was a one-in-a-billion shot, but it worked.
Part 4:
Albert stood in front of an open metal storage cabinet where he’d hidden a cryo-storage container. The faint hum coming from the small tank told him it was running smoothly. With a gentle hand, he placed each of the still-frozen self-contained embryo cases inside, making sure they were secure. Then locked and camouflaged the cabinet with care so it seemed only a dusty cupboard.
After completing that, he turned to leave his lab. He needed to know what was happening outside. Only the command center would tell him that.
Before leaving, Albert swept his gaze from one side of the room to the other, making sure nothing was out of place. His gaze lingered on the transporter. Too bad he couldn’t use it through the entire night, bringing everything straight to him. But it had been a miracle it had worked on the first try. It would be too much to expect any more attempts to be successful.
When Albert stepped into the ready room, the sound of missile explosions filled the room. His stomach turned. The large screen in front of him flashed one brilliant flash after another.
They were destroying everything without a second thought!
One look at the Captain’s determined face told him this would not stop anytime soon.
Albert stared at the screen, willing an idea to come to him, when something in the shadowy background of the live feed caught his eye.
A large piece of debris that no one else seemed to have noticed. He waited for someone to cry out and point. But it remained quiet.
Albert glanced at the Captain. Their fearless leader leaned over a map examining an area closer to the city.
Glancing out of the door of the command center, he spied two young soldiers lingering in the dining area, sour looks on their faces. Backup would be nice. And those soldiers didn’t look too happy to be shut up in here when all the action was outside.
Albert headed toward them, nodding. “Hello gentlemen. Are you aware of who I am?”
The soldiers exchanged a quick look.
“Um. Yes,” one answered in an unsure voice. “You’re in science, right?”
“Right. I’ve been given a mission with approval to take backup. Would you like to be that backup?”
They seemed unsure, which wasn’t a surprise given that he was being very vague, but Albert could see the glimmer of excitement in their eyes.
“We’ll run it by the Captain,” one said, preparing to jog to the ready room.
“Didn’t you just see me come from there? I already ran it past the Captain,” Albert said sharply. “There’s no need to do what I’ve already done.” He hesitated. “I mean, if you don’t want to go?”
The young soldiers immediately changed their tune. “We want to go.”
“Definitely want to go.”
“Okay then,” Albert replied, happy to see them so eager. “Let’s get started.”
They nodded in unison, but one put up a hand. “What gear should we bring? What kind of mission is it?”
Albert hesitated for a moment. He couldn’t tell them the truth.
